About three months after releasing iOS 18, Apple published iOS 18.2 on December 11. The Apple Intelligence Genmoji feature is one of the new features and bug fixes that iOS 18.2 offers your iPhone. You may record movies and listen to music simultaneously with iOS 18. Although it may not be as good as you had hoped, that function could make it simpler to share films on social media.
Tech Advice
Prior to iOS 18, your iPhone’s music would stop playing if you began filming a video while it was playing. You may queue up the appropriate tune and get going using iOS 18. However, I discovered several problems with the feature.

Does this feature need to be enabled in order to function?
Although it should be activated automatically, you may also access this option under Settings. This function was activated as soon as I downloaded the operating system. You should thus be able to record a video without pausing your audio after updating.
Which applications are compatible with this feature?
When I tried this function with the Music, Spotify, and Podcast apps, I was able to capture a video while playing music or audio from all three. The functionality probably doesn’t work with all of those applications.
When recording the screen, will audio play?
Indeed. I attempted to screen record while playing audio from the aforementioned applications, and music was captured when I did so. You may now record your screen while listening to music, something that was not possible while iOS 18 was in testing.
How good is the videos’ audio quality?
For screen recordings, the audio quality is often acceptable. There is not much, if any, distortion in the audio, making it rather clear. Your audio quality will suffer if you are simultaneously filming a video and recording music.
When I used the function, the music sounded empty and far away, and it might sound very distorted depending on how loud I played it on my iPhone. The quality is likely poor since Apple states in the option description that the audio is captured in mono using the iPhone’s on-device microphone after being played over the speaker.
On-device microphones may function in settings with limited outside noises, such as a quiet room during an interview, but they often provide poor quality in chaotic or complicated sound environments. On-device microphones often don’t have the same sound capture capabilities as external microphones, which might lead to worse audio quality, claims the captioning firm Ava.

Additionally, according to audio equipment maker Sonos, recording in mono compresses the audio parts and might result in a flat and less dynamic sound.
You may disable this function if you’re bothered by the quality of the music in your movies.
How to prevent iPhone movies from having music playing in the background
1. Select Settings.
2. Press the Camera button.
3. Select “Record Sound.”
4. Turn off the audio playback feature.
Your iPhone will now stop playing any music or audio when you record a video until you’re done.
