It’s difficult to overlook the possibility that TikTok might disappear in less than a week as attorneys contest the prohibition before the Supreme Court today. The TikTok ban is currently scheduled for January 19. It will probably no longer be accessible for download by new users on that date. Then? For now, the future is uncertain.
A legislation requiring ByteDance, the Chinese firm that controls TikTok, to either relinquish the app or risk a statewide ban was upheld by the US Court of Appeals on December 6. This decision shows the rising worry about the app’s links to China and potential national security dangers.
